We had a nice one, relaxing & quiet. My husband says, just the way he likes them ! This is a sweet little card that I created in the vintage, collage style I love so much. it reminds me of spring, of the birds singing a symphony in my backyard in the early mornings; of the gentle breeze ruffling the leaves in the trees. In the buzz of the bees as they go about their work gathering nectar and pollen from the Hollyhocks and Lantana in my garden. There is music everywhere! you just have to listen! Have a wonderful day! Happy Father's Day to all the Dad's out there!Heidi Kilgorehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15003538503013214442noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2765418456895998085.post-48931169984470740912009-06-21T17:16:00.000-07:002009-06-21T17:18:49.879-07:00I Love Music
"I love music" card.Heidi Kilgorehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15003538503013214442noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2765418456895998085.post-4658619350374240152009-06-17T11:45:00.000-07:002009-06-17T11:47:06.361-07:00
Song Bird Vintage CardHeidi Kilgorehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15003538503013214442noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2765418456895998085.post-86085490318951136002009-06-17T10:44:00.000-07:002009-06-17T11:33:20.859-07:00Song Bird vintage cardHappy Wedensday!

The sun is shining, popping in and out between the clouds. It sprinkled this morning, just a little. I like it when it rains for a little while, and then the sun comes out. Everything is so fresh after, cleansed by the rain. the birds come flying to the feeder. chirping and chattering away, hungry after their breakfast having been delayed by the inconsiderate cloudburst.

I love being out in my back yard in the early morning. everything is so peaceful and still. just the birds and my dogs to keep me company while I have my morning coffee.

I guess this may have been what inspired me to make this card. the colors are calming to me. black and white always make everything you put with it pop. I used the* Song Bird* set from TJ Designs (Tweety Jill) It has quickly become a favorite of mine I find that I turn to it again and again. I just love all the images in this set.

I started off with Ivory card stock, (Stampin' Up), used Rasberry Tart DSP (SU) for the background and scalloped trim at the bottom. The scallop is the new eyelet border punch from SU! I like it alot and find that I use it all the time. Then I cut a slightly smaller piece out of black cs, and a smaller piece yet ( just a tiny bit) of Pink Pirouette cs (SU!) I am going to miss this paper! I stamped the Pink Pirouette cs (SU!) with the sheet music stamp ( all night media/ Anna Giffin)

I cut out two "Top Note" die cuts using my *Big Shot* all from SU! I trimmed the toile top note around the edges, right at the perforated edge , to make it a teensy bit smaller than the black one. This gives it a nice border and really makes it pop. I glittered all around the edge of the Pink cs using my glass glitter from Goldbug Studio. The Song Bird banner and the little bird are from the above mentioned *Song Bird* set. I free handed the banner , and using my 1" 3/8 & 1" 1/4 circle punches (SU!) punched the little bird out after Istamped her on the paper. I distressed the edges with Vintage distress ink (Ranger) added a lttle more glitter around the circle and banner portion. the buttons and ribbon are from my stash. Oh, and I almost forgot, tiny little pink sparkles from Wal-Mart.

There you have it! " My Song Bird" vintage card. Be sure to check out my Etsy shop, Song Bird Vintage & Arts, and Junebug 658 . I'll have some of my cards for sale and some vintage and altered items too!

Thanks for stopping By!

Hugs,

HeidiHeidi Kilgorehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15003538503013214442noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2765418456895998085.post-7804487941797308212009-06-17T10:40:00.000-07:002009-06-17T10:43:59.421-07:00Song Bird vintage cardHeidi Kilgorehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15003538503013214442noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2765418456895998085.post-79726930750057102812009-06-14T02:39:00.000-07:002009-06-14T02:46:16.204-07:00Hollyhocks in my backyard.
These beauties are just some of the flowers in my yard. Everything is in bloom, and the birds are singing. There are Butterflies in my garden. I love to sit outside in the early morning , soaking up the silence as the sleepy world wakes up. it is so peaceful. It is a great time for reflection, and to feel close to God.

This card reminds me of spring time. I love the little bird getting ready to break into song. The large music notes and little bird are from the TJ Designs set: "Song Birds." I really love this set. I have used it alot. It is very versatile. The small music notes are stamped using an Anna Griffin/All night media stamp. The ribbon and buttons are from my stash. The star is punched from some silver card stock that I have had forever, left over from another project. The star is punched using the small star punch from Stampin" Up!. I placed it on a little circle of newsprint and spritzed it with "Pearl" Glimmer Mist by Tattered Angels. It gives it just a little sparkle. I added some bits of paper doilie, you know the kind you get in the cake section at Michaels, or Walmart.
It adds a little vintage feel to the project. There is a little hint of tinsel peeking out at the top. and I covered the base of the card with some "Bella Rose" DSP from Stampin' Up!

I hope your Summer Days are sunny! I hope your week is going great! I have been keeping busy all week, and realized I had'nt posted anything in a while. This is a card I made recently that I thought would work well for a wedding, it is the season for that you know! or even an anniversary. I used *Very Vanilla* CS (SU!) and embossed it using the *Floral Fantasy* embossing envelope and my Cuttlebug. I layered a silver metallic paper panel ( I had it in my stash- sorry I don't know who makes it) followed by another VV panel stamped with the *Bella Blossom* image from Stampin Up! I stamped the image in *Going Gray*. I added a narrow strip of the silver paper, and then glittered the side with Silver Hi Lo Glitter from Stampendous!. I finished the inside by stamping the smaller flower from the *Bella Blossom* set and used my *Big Shot* Top Note die . the sentiment I stamped in *Going Gray* using the *Bellal Blossom* set (SU!) I added the Ivory organza ribbon ( I got it at Michael's in the dollar bin) I don't know if you can tell from the picture, but the sides are trimmed in silver and it is a wired ribbon. Makes it easy to tie a nice bow! Well I'm off to finish some projects for my class next Wed. Are you ready for the weekend? I am. This weekend we are going to an annual Polish Festival. It is held at a Church here in the Phoenix area that serves a mostly Polish congregation. They have Polish dancers in traditional costumes and live Polish music, crafts and Polish food. Let me just say that the food it FABULOUS!! My 94 year old (young) uncle is polish and I've invited He and my Aunt to come for the festivities. I know he will enjoy it since he grew up around all that stuff. I hope it brings back many happy memories for him. He is a very young 94 yr old. He is still sharp of mind, and a total crack up! He always has new jokes to tell, and is the king of one-liners. He is the life of the party where ever he goes. Perhaps that is why he stays so young! Well, anyhooo, I am posting today because I really wanted to share a little project I did for my niece Savannah's Brownie troop a couple of weeks ago. The Girl Scouts in our area hold an event annually where all the troops get together in a big hall, and celebrate cultural diversity. Each troop is assigned a country, and they must present info and products from that country. Savannah's troop chose France. they displayed the French Flag over their booth ( made on poster board by the girls) They had their facts table set up with interesting facts about France, i.e., arts, population, national product, etc. as each girl stopped by each "country's" table, their passports were stamped with a little flag sticker for the corresponding country, a craft was made, and food from that country was sampled. Savannah's booth served little cream puffs topped by tiny French flags. So cute! and for their craft, I made these bookmarks. The craft had to be fairly quick, under 5 min, as there were alot of girls and they had to make their rounds at each table. I made the body of the bookmark,( had it all stamped and the top hole punched out) , so when they arrived at our booth all they had to do was thread the tassel through the top hole, adhere the little oval *paris* plaque to the bottom and add the bling! Easy Peasy! They really got into the sparkly rhinestones! I had to limit some of them, as I think they would have covered their entire bookmark with rhinestones! LOL But, they're 8-12 yrs old, so that's to be expected! Little girls love their bling! and some of us *BIG* girls do too! I think they turned out quite well. all the girls seemed to like them and some of the leaders came by and made a bookmark too! Hopefull these will encourage them to do some reading over the summer, Well, .... it's a nice thought , anyway.

The Recipe: I cut some* very vanilla* card stock (SU!) into 2x8 strips, rounded the corners with my corner rounder (SU!) I stamped the images using Ranger Distress Ink in *vintage photo* the Eiffel tower was stamped in black( SU) as I wanted it to stand out as the main image, the stamp set is *Journey to France* from TJ designs (Tweety Jill) I also used the *Carte Postale* set from SU! (ret) for the Fluer de Lis and the Bonjour, and Mon Amie images. I really love that set, too bad they retired it so soon! I stamped the little Flourishes using Copper ink by Color Box. that just gives it a little dimension as it will pick up the light when held at different angles. I used *Stickles* in Bronze on the Eiffel Tower to jazz it up a little, ( remember what I said about the bling!) The little *Paris* oval was stamped on a different piece of vanilla card stock, and punched out using the small oval punch (SU!) I added two little rhinestones to each of the Fluer de Lis to give it some more interest. (on sample.) ( the girls could add more if they wished) The girls glued those on and added the rhinestones, threaded the tassel and Voila! a stylin' new bookmark souvenir of their trip to France! the Troops # is on the back of each bookmark. I made 100 of these little *souvenirs*! It was a fun night! Take care, enjoy the springtime weather, hopefully everybody is finally getting some relief from the cold and snow. It is getting just plain HOT here, But that's Phoenix!

Bye for now,

HeidiHeidi Kilgorehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15003538503013214442noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2765418456895998085.post-58216207114522059702009-04-17T11:00:00.000-07:002009-04-17T11:10:28.519-07:00Stampin' Chicks downline meetingHi all, Just a quick post to share some of the Fabulous Creations made by the gals in our group, "Stampin' Chicks" I am so fortunate to be in a group with so many talented stampers! We recently decided to form a new group as our original downline group was getting rather large. I really do miss the other ladies in our original group as they are all so talented and so much fun to be with. having a smaller group is good though, because we can take the opportunity to share and discuss our ideas and techniques for projects more at length since there are fewer of us and with a larger group time just would not permit. I hope it will be inspirational and we can really get our creative juices flowing! Hope you enjoy all the Cards!

Hugs, HeidiHeidi Kilgorehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15003538503013214442noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2765418456895998085.post-23373041082612835602009-04-17T10:13:00.000-07:002009-04-17T10:46:31.321-07:00more cards from the 4/12/09 class

Chat's card "Branch out" (SU!) using the crayon resist method. They also got little note books on key chains, and more misc. stuff.

another view of the treat bags.

The girls hunting their eggs. I hope this week is going great for everyone! I have a late Easter card that I wanted to share with all of you. I made this for my Daughter using a few stamps found in the $1.00 bin a Michaels. Sometimes you can find good stuff in there! I used various scraps of Stampin' Up DSP and card stock that I had in my stash. I just tried to put together some pleasing color combo's using what I had. I think it turned out rather nice, for a hodge podge card. I just wanted something light and fun to send to Nicole and her Hubby for Easter.

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter! My family and I sure did. We had a very nice dinner over at my Sister's place and the kids had their annual Egg Hunt. I started buying the large plastic eggs a couple years back, and filling them with little goodies from the $1.00 store. The kids get a kick out of finding a small prize in every egg. Sometimes it's a little toy, or some candy , or a quarter . Sometimes even a dollar bill! Last year I made a "Golden Ticket" and placed it in just one of the eggs. and whoever found that special egg got a special prize. Normally I make sure that everyone gets the same amount of goodies, so no one feels left out. This year I just made all the prizes the same for everyone. They have fun, and before I leave, they make sure I have all the empty eggs to be filled again for next year. The egg hunt is my favorite part. I start collecting prizes well before Easter. I am a "bigger kid" than all of them put together! Hopefully they will all have fond memories to take with them into adulthood. Here are a few pics to share of our Easter. Hope you enjoy them.

Now it's off to bed, to get some sleep before work tomarrow I have more projects to share, so I'll be posting again in the next day or so. Have a good one!
